Our Badger Removal Process
Step 1: Initial Ecological Survey
Step 2: Preparing Survey Reports
Step 3: Licence Application to Natural England
Step 4: Approval from Natural England
Step 5: Implementing Exclusion Methods
Step 6: Monitoring Period
Step 7: Sett Closure
Our qualified ecologists conduct a comprehensive ecological survey of your property to assess badger activity and identify active setts. This involves mapping sett locations, entry points, and signs of badger presence to understand the extent of the infestation.
Based on the findings from the ecological survey, we compile detailed reports and management plans. These documents outline the proposed methods for badger exclusion and are essential for the licensing process.
We submit the survey reports and management plans to Natural England to obtain the necessary licences. Involving an ecologist strengthens our application by ensuring all ecological considerations are addressed.
We await approval from Natural England before proceeding. This step confirms that our proposed methods meet all legal and ethical standards for badger removal under UK wildlife legislation.
Upon receiving approval, we install one-way gates and mesh around the sett entrances. These devices allow badgers to exit but prevent them from re-entering, encouraging them to relocate naturally without harm.
The exclusion devices are monitored for a minimum of 21 days. Our team conducts regular checks to ensure all badgers have vacated the sett and that there is no new activity or signs of return.
Once we confirm the sett is unoccupied, we securely close it and rehabilitate the area as necessary. This prevents future badger reoccupation and restores the site for your business use.
